Discover Holiday Traditions of the Past:
Stroll through a glowing historic neighborhood, where candle lanterns light the way, and twinkling string lights cast a magical glow. At Candlelight Stroll, families are invited to explore Strawbery Banke’s decorated historic houses and meet costumed roleplayers who share stories of how holidays were celebrated over the past 350 years.
Children and adults alike will be captivated by the sights, sounds, and traditions of times gone by. From handmade decorations crafted from heirloom garden greens to festive music from strolling performers, there’s something to inspire every member of your family.

Exciting Highlights for Families in 2024:
This year’s Candlelight Stroll is packed with fun activities and special experiences for all ages:
- NEW Accessible and Sensory-Friendly Stroll: A relaxed and quieter version of the event, perfect for young children or anyone who prefers a more laid-back experience. Join us on Sunday, December 15, from 2–4 PM.
- Hands-On Fun: Craft a winter-themed thaumatrope, a 19th-century optical illusion toy, and learn about the history of these magical gadgets.
- The Grove of Sponsored Holiday Trees: Stroll through a breathtaking display of holiday trees decorated by local organizations—each one more dazzling than the last.
- Ice Dance International’s Vintage Christmas Skaters: Weather permitting, enjoy performances on ice inspired by Currier and Ives’ classic holiday scenes.

Family Fun for All Ages:
Warm up with a cup of hot apple cider in the cider shed or by a roaring bonfire and chat with friendly performers as you wander through the historic Puddle Dock neighborhood. Candlelight Stroll is an event your whole family will treasure, and kids under 3 attend for free (ticket required), making it a perfect outing for even the littlest history buffs!
