As spring blossoms in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC) is bustling with an exciting lineup of spring classes, promising enriching experiences in music and arts. This spring, PMAC offers a new Bucket Drumming class, two fan-favorite art classes, and private music art lessons on a variety of instruments. Registration for classes is currently open. Expression Sessions (Ages 8-10)
Dive into the world of artistic exploration and expression in this colorful class where creativity knows no bounds! Under the skilled guidance of teaching artist Anna Nuttall, participants will experiment with drawing, painting, and mixed mediums, as well as add tips, tricks, and skills to their artist toolkit. In this class, young artists flourish with individualized instruction and a safe, encouraging environment. Here, you're not just a student – you're a budding artist with a unique voice waiting to be heard!
Each week of the class focuses on a new project. No prior experience required and no prerequisites needed – just pure excitement for art.

Bucket drumming is a fun and unique experience, allowing musicians of all levels to build their skills while exploring rhythm and beat. In this interactive class, students will start by building a
baseline understanding of drum patterns and then progress through more advanced skills as the class progresses. Along the way, the class will be inspired by videos of contemporary bucket-drummers, and explore making original compositions.
This class is for anyone and everyone - no experience needed! We have all the materials, all we need is students to hold the sticks!

Calling All Aspiring Cartoonists! šļø Are you fascinated by the world of graphic novels? Do you find joy in bringing characters to life through your drawings? If so, our Cartooning Class is tailor-made for creative artists like you!
Designed for artists ages 11-14, our Cartooning Class is a creative home for budding creators of all levels, from beginner doodlers to seasoned storytellers. Here you'll breathe stories into your sketches, discover the secrets of crafting compelling characters, and unleash your inner cartoonist in a vibrant community of like-minded peers.
There is no prerequisite for this class and students can join and re-join any session throughout the year. Students will also show art in PMAC's Student Art Show, Off the Wall, in June 2024.
