1. Dance to the beat

March is Music in Our Schools Month. But why limit it to school? Check out these stories for at-home music fun:

Visit Exeter Music or the Drum Center of Portsmouth, or take the initiative by signing up your kids for lessons at the Portsmouth Music & Arts Center.

2. Cook together

Did you know March is National Nutrition Month? Make it fun for the whole family by including everyone in the kitchen. How about some cooking classes at Misa’s Clean Kitchen in Stratham or virtually? Or picking up some fresh produce at one of many farms in the Seacoast area such as Heron Pond Farm in South Hampton, Applecrest Farm in Hampton Falls or the Farm at Eastman's Corner in Kensington?

3. Read a book

March 2 is Read Across America Day, the perfect day to start that new book as a family. Visit Water Street Bookstore in Exeter or Portsmouth Book & Bar for some great family-friendly reading picks!

4. Spoil those tootsies

Yep, what you've heard is true: March 6-13 is Feet Week. There's really a week for everything these days, isn't there? Celebrate your hardworking tootsies (and maybe take an afternoon break for yourself!) by heading to Luxe Nails and Spa in Seabrook for a pedicure. Your feet will thank you.

5. Plan a staycation

Whether for spring break or just a weekend day, plan a staycation right here at home and act like a tourist! Here are some fun family friendly spots to visit: Children's Museum of NH in Dover, Seacoast Science Center in Rye, the Roundabout Diner in Portsmouth and Las Olas Taqueria in Exeter.

6. Clean!

OK, maybe this isn't your idea of a good time but we love a good deep spring cleaning. Crank up your family's favorite tunes and give everyone a job to do. Or better yet, think about hiring a cleaning company to visit your home regularly ... it can be a sanity-saver for a busy family! Check out Seacoast Cleaning of Dover or Green Maids Cleaning of Portsmouth.

7. Plant something

It's been a looooong winter but spring arrives in March! Not only that, but March 12 is National Plant a Flower Day! Get to Newton Greenhouse or Wentworth Greenhouses in Rollinsford and buy yourself something green.

8. Eat that second piece of pie

March 14 is Pi Day! Make a pie (we love this paper bag apple pie) or get to Portsmouth and visit Ceres Bakery, or Northeast Pie Company in Durham for a heavenly slice, or two.

9. Trap that leprechaun

Check out our list of 17 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day With Kids then head out to one of the many Irish pub and restaurants in the Seacoast. Holy Grail in Epping and Cara's Irish Pub & Restaurant in Dover both offer food options perfect for kids! Or try some Irish step dancing in Exeter at Murray's Academy of Irish Dance or McDonough-Grimes Irish Dance in Dover.

10. Pet allllll the puppies

March 23 is National Puppy Day ... but isn't every day Puppy Day? It should be! Check out puppies (and sweet doggies of all ages!) at New Hampshire SPCA in Stratham or Pope Memorial Humane Society in Dover.

11. Enjoy weekend waffles

International Waffle Day is in March. Make a fun waffle bar at home for kids to choose their own toppings, or head to your favorite breakfast spot in town! My kids LOVE the waffles at The Friendly Toast in Portsmouth.
