Love Hot Chocolate? Here's Where To Get It

The Seacoast has a lot of great places to get a hot chocolate in the cold winter months!

By Corinne Kaneb December 30, 2021

Who doesn't love a chocolatey cup of goodness in the winter season? Grab your kiddos and head to the closest cafe or coffee shop to lift the spirits and excite the kids.

I've rounded up my family's choices for the top five hot chocolate spots in the Seacoast area, along with the reasons that my family loves them. I've listed them in alphabetical order:

Adelle's Coffee House

3 Hale Street

Dover, NH

(603) 742-1737

What we love: Started by UNH graduates, Adelle's is cool. Besides their hot chocolate, which is award winning, their lemonade is amazing since it is freshly squeezed. Grab a hot chocolate there after a trip to the Children's Museum, which is a 3 minute walk down the street.

Aroma Joe's

Various locations on the Seacoast

What we love: As much as I love Aroma Joe's hot chocolate, my absolute favorite item on their menu is the swiss, ham and egg croissant sandwich. My daughter loves their hash browns. Also, who doesn't love to sit in the nice warm car in the winter and order food and drinks through the window? AJ's is super convenient with kids in tow! Locations all over the Seacoast, including Dover, Durham, Epping, Exeter, Greenland, Hampton, Lee, Newmarket, Portsmouth, Rochester, and Somersworth.

Enna Chocolate

152 Front Street

Exeter, NH

(603) 580-5132

What we love: This chocolate shop was recommended to me by a friend, and I can see why, since their chocolate is made in shop. Their hot chocolate is to die for; it's not sweet, but very rich. Enna is very quaint and sweet, with little tables to sit at inside and outside the shop. After grabbing a hot chocolate, head over to the purple dinosaur playground down the street to sit at a picnic table while the kids play.

Popover's On the Square

8 Congress Street

Portsmouth, NH

(603) 431-1119

What we love: I always feel fancy when I'm at Popovers. "Pop" in for a sweet treat. Their hot chocolate is amazing, and it has a sister location at Brickyard Square in Epping. The owner also owns the Galley Hatch restaurant in Hampton, which also has great hot chocolate.

The Works Café

5a Mill Road Plaza

Durham, NH

(603) 868-3500

What we love: Besides having the best bagel sandwiches, The Works has hot chocolate! A very comfy location in Durham, slide in at a booth to drink your cocoa and eat your preferred breakfast item. There is another location in downtown Portsmouth.
